District 9 comprises 13 societies, largely in the beautiful Niagara Peninsula (one in Haldimand County). We are blessed with a generally moderate climate and a hardiness zone of 6 a or b. Our geographic area is bounded in the east by the Niagara River and goes lake-to-lake from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario and west to Grimsby and Smithville. The peninsula is also home to a range of floral greenhouses, the Niagara Parks Commission Botanical Gardens and world-renowned School of Horticulture, as well as many wineries taking advantage of the grape-growing microclimate and soils, e.g., the Beamsville Bench.

In the midst of this horticultural bounty, societies in the District work on a variety of gardening and educational initiatives that encourage biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental enhancement and protection. In the process, they are beautifying their communities and having fun doing it.

District 9 encompasses the Niagara peninsula from Grimsby to Niagara Falls. As well, it includes the Dunnville Horticultural Society located in Haldimand County. There are thirteen societies in the District.

In District 9, we garden in a variety of conditions ranging in Zones from 5 to 6. Some areas are quite sheltered and many exotic plants are grown here by adventurous gardeners.

We have two meetings per year, one being our AGM in the spring, in  April and the other the Fall Forum, usually held on the last Saturday in September. Both meetings have speakers and flower and/or Photo competition shows. Information and schedules will be  available under "Spring Annual Meeting & Fall Forum" shortly.

In 2025 District 9 AGM will be hosted by the Fort Erie Horticultural Society on April 5th and will take place in Fort Erie. . Our Fall Forum will be held on Sept, 27th and will be hosted by the Dunnville Horticultural Society site TBD. These meetings are fun and a great chance to meet with lots of camaraderie and just plain fun! Check the links for this on our page.
